Topics of Interest

The SIBGRAPI 2001 Committee invites contributions in all areas of Computer Graphics and Image Processing, including but not limited to the following:

  • Image synthesis
  • Geometric modeling
  • Graphical interfaces
  • Multimedia
  • Image segmentation
  • Computer vision
  • Image compression
  • Remote sensing
  • Graphics hardware
  • Animation and simulation
  • Computational geometry
  • Scientific visualization
  • Image retrieval
  • Pattern recognition
  • Mathematical morphology
  • Three-dimensional images
  • Geographical databases
  • Applications

Categories of Contribution

Contributions should be in one of the following categories:

  1. FULL PAPERS, which should be original and unpublished developments on algorithms, techniques, hardware, or applications, related to the symposium's themes. Their evaluation is on the basis of the relevance, originality, technical value, and specifically tailored to the symposium style standards. They will be presented as technical lectures and published by IEEE Press as two-column papers, which must not exceed 8 pages including figures, bibliography and appendices. 8-10 papers in Image Processing, Computer Vision, and Pattern Recognition will be selected for a special issue to be published in the journal Pattern Recognition Letters. The best papers in Computer Graphics, Geometric Modeling, and Visualization will be selected for a special issue in the journal Computers & Graphics.
  2. TECHNICAL POSTERS, which describe research projects related to the Symposium's themes that may be ongoing work. Their evaluation is on the basis of the legibility and the conformity with the symposium style standards. They will be presented in POSTER sessions and published as two-column, 1-page paper and their authors are expected to bring with them to the Symposium a A1-size poster (84.1cm x 59.4cm) describing their paper, which will be placed on display after their 2-minute presentation. At maximum 2 folies in English are allowed in the presentation.
  3. TUTORIALS about classical or timely topics, ranged from elementary to advanced. Proposals are solicited for half-day (3 hour) and full-day (6 hour) tutorials with printed notes (20-50 pages). They will be evaluated on the basis of their relevance to the SIBGRAPI 2001 themes, suitability for presentation in a tutorial format, expertise of the instructors, and the fit with the overall balance of the tutorial program.
  4. FRONT COVER IMAGES, which should be digital images in TIFF, GIF, JPEG, EPS, or PPM format generated by computer graphics or image processing techniques. The best image will be printed on the front cover of the SIBGRAPI 2001 proceedings.
  5. VIDEOS, which should be productions generated by computer graphics or digital video processing techniques. For more information see video submission guidelines.

Full papers, technical posters, and panel proposals are to be submitted in English.

Submissions that fail to follow those guidelines may be rejected, regardless of their merit.

How to Submit

In any case, the complete submission must reach the Technical Committee on or before the corresponding due date, regardless of the posting date. Submissions received after that date will not be considered.

Beware of last-minute network congestion, when dozens of authors try to send multimegabyte messages at the same time.

Receipt of submission will be acknowledged.
