Preface

This course is based on the toolbox MMACH - A Mathematical Morphology Toolbox for the Khoros system.

A previous knowledge of basic concepts on Mathematical Morphology is required for this course. It was designed specificaly as a hands-on course for the program of the Brazilian Workshop'96 on Mathematical Morphology, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Feb96. It is complementary of the 4-hour course given by Luc Vincent.

The notation used in this course follows the same used in the paper by Barrera, Banon and Lotufo, ``A Mathematical Morphology Toolbox for the Khoros System'', presented at Conf. on Image Algebra and Morphological Image Processing V, SPIE's Annual Meeting, 24-29 July, 1994, San Diego, USA.

List of Experiments:
  1. Binary Top Hat: Segmenting the teeth of a gear
  2. Gray-scale Top Hat: Segmenting white numbers from a non-uniform intensity background
  3. Binary Top Hat by Reconstruction: Segmenting the holes of a PCB
  4. Gray-scale Top Hat by Reconstruction: Segmenting the holes of a PCB
  5. Local Minimum: Segmenting thin lines
  6. Watershed: Segmenting thin lines using watershed
  7. Toggle: Segmenting the tracks of a PCB
