Nodes
Nodes are the basic components of a scene graph in VRML. In the following we
will introduce some of the node types.
A node has the following characteristics :
- a type name : e.g. Background, Box, etc
- the field parameters to distinguish nodes of the same type:
- fields : define the initial values for the node's state. They are
private and therefore cannot be modified
- exposedFields : also define initial values for the node's state, but
are public and may be modified by other nodes
- a set of associated event parameters: nodes can receive events eventIn
denoted as set_ events, and send out events eventOut denoted as
_changed events.
In particular, exposedFields are equivalent to the declaration :
- exposedField example
- eventIn set_example
- field example
- eventOut example_changed
VRML defines 36 types of nodes .
