You may check your current disk usage and quota with the following command:
test-user@leblon[1] quota -v Disk quotas for test-user (uid 999): Filesystem usage quota limit timeleft files quota limit timeleft /home 13421 20000 25000 943 0 0
Notice that this user is using ~13MEG. of the 20MEG quota or "soft limit" on the /home file system.
Once you have passed the hard limit you will not be able to create any more files. If you stay between your quota and the hard limit for more than some time period then the soft limit will be enforced. (Default of 1 week)
Once you have removed enough disk space to be below your quota, the system will let you create files.
If you are in the editor at the point when the quota limit is applied, suspend the editor, and remove files. Then bring the editor back to the foreground once you are below your quota. (You might want to read the help on background processing.)
When you exceed the quota on a server, a warning is printed and a timer started. When you exceed the quota on a diskless client a warning is NOT printed, but the timer still starts....
