I am prompted for a terminal type when I login. What type should I specify?

If you are at the console of a Sun, you should specify xterm. This is the default. If you are logging in remotely, the type will depend on your terminal and your telecommunications software. Common types are vt100, vt52, adm31, h29, and h19. If your terminal is not one of these, make a guess and check for better ideas later by typing more /etc/termcap at a UNIX prompt. This will list all terminal types currently supported. Most terminal emulation programs run in vt100 mode.
