Informatics and Biological Systems Group:

  An Evolved Form of Symbiosis

An Initiative of the Complex Systems Group of
the Department of Computer Engineering and Industrial Automation (DCA) at
the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC)

Summary

InfoBioSys is a new research effort focusing on the integration ("symbiosis") of Computer Engineering and Biological disciplinary issues. Our present endeavour centers around the design and implementation of computational models suited for attending the requirements imposed by some Bioinformatics problems.

Current Objectives

The main purposes underlying the activities of this research group are:
  • To employ an integrated methodology based on a range of specialized techniques (mainly those related to Complex Systems and Intelligent Systems research areas) aiming at tackling well-known Bioinformatics problems;
  • To disseminate and acquire "know-how" on the construction, implementation and deployment of computational models and tools specifically devoted to Bioinformatics requirements;
  • To promote the interchange of acquired knwoledge with other research groups through collaborative partnerships.

Focus of attention

This is a non-exhaustive list of Bioinformatics problems we are currently interested in:

Meetings

We plan to keep here an update timetabling of meetings, joint presentations, and seminars that may occur within the group.
